one not look at the radar -- why not look at the radar? we can see that there are two bands of rain on the radar. one is south of the city down in the district of columbia where there are some light rain charge of the district itself and the immediate area. just to the north of baltimore, there is a band of showers. no. baltimore county and northern harford county at this time. not very significant at all could be heaviest of the rain, the yellow swatches of rain. this is all a son of a warm front coming in. a warm front brings warmer air and more humidity and that is what our forecast is all about. we will talk about it in just a minute. >> our big story this morning comes at a baltimore county. police encountered a suspect

with a sort of. >> here is sheldon. >> it was a case that was of great concern to our community. >> a 15-year-old boy and of dep did -- a 15-year-old boy of duct from his home. police have charged them with attempted murder, assault, kidnapping and gun charges. >> we arrested two overnight and a third was arrested this afternoon at her apartment without incident. >> their investigation led them there. allthey walked into the home and announce their presence. >> has officers went into the home and went to the second floor of the home, they opened

the bedroom door and a man attacked them with a sword. >> the officers shield was hit by the sword and he responded by shooting and killing the man. he has been identified as ronald cox. it is unidentified at the moment how he was related to the home. but we don't have a motive in this case. we do believe that these folks were involved with illegal drugs and the sale of illegal drugs. >> the attorney for the 15-2 victim says that the client is happy with the new developments, but they're also cautiously guarded. >> maryland state police are investigating a double shooting that claimed the life of a man in carroll county. investigators say that jacob bircher and two other men were in the parking lot. bircher pulled out a pistol and

area of light rain shower activity through montgomery county. the much and howard. frederick county, carroll county and then up to hartford and cecil and then it goes into pennsylvania. it is moving to the northeast. it is somewhat limited. once you cross the potomac river, there's not much at all. some of you are getting in light sprinkles and showers 67% humidity. the barometer is dropping off a little bit. that is a little leery of low pressure. that will trigger some rain -- there is a little area of low pressure. that will trigger some rain. around the city, at gainesville, 75 degrees. we white in the view a little bit and it is in the 60's and

70's in the lower eastern shore. the dewpoint are beginning to rise a little bit. yesterday, we were in the 50's at 60's. now we see mostly 60's around the area. and closer to 70 in southern maryland. we see the movement. the front is just in southern virginia now appeared out ahead of us, as the front moves in, it collides with slightly cooler air. that is what is triggering the shower activity. the cold front is way out in the midwest. it will take a while to get here. until then, we have a chance of rain today. scattered showers and maybe some thunder. the rain chances go up tomorrow. today, a mix of clouds and son. maybe it thunderstorm. the greatest chance of thunder is later on. most of the time, it will let be raining. once the wind strings around, we

will see higher committee. we have this one batch of shower activity coming in this morning. by this afternoon and this evening, there is still a chance of rain, but it starts to thin out a little bit. but it might action contained some thunder. in sunday, it increases considerably. rain chances will be concentrated more in the south of us on monday. the highest rain chance will be tomorrow as far as the weekend is concerned. a mix of sun and clouds. it will let be raining all the time. we will be in the upper-70's today. and then a few days in the 90 pause here. the rain chances -- in the 90's year. then the rain chances will be somewhat scattered. >> police in anne arundel county have been cracking down on

can to avoid serious and life- threatening or fatal crashes. we're doing education as well. we're stopping folks. we're handing out warnings. we are explaining to them what they're doing wrong. >> officer greg told us it is hard to spot someone texting. while we were with him, we couldn't catch anyone texting. but in this truck, the driver was talking on the phone while driving. since he had a taillight out on the truck, he was pulled over. the officer gave him a warning and he said he was fine with being pulled over. >> you were talking on the phone, what you? >> yes. my wife called me right now. we have some medical problems. >> but i guess it is a good reminder. >> that is good. i don't mind that, you know? a mlk. >> the idea of operation the bill is to not just about tickets, but to also educate the public that distracted driving

>> welcome back to 11 news saturday morning. thank you for joining us. >> let's have a look outside with the john. it looks like it will be steamy. >> we do have a rain chance this weekend, but it is not a washout-type of situation. >> we need the rain, though. >> that is right. when it is hot, even though it is humid, it dries out the ground. here is the radar. in central baltimore, to give you a reference point, most of the city, west of the city and south of the city, there are some scattered rain showers. some will not amount to more than a few sprinkles. in washington, d.c., and on the maryland side, east of the

potomac, they have gotten most of the rain right now. up to pennsylvania, it has been static in parts of carroll county and frederick county and montgomery county at this time. we will talk more about the forecast and where we are headed in a few minutes. >> after that powerful storm slammed our region a couple of weeks ago, pepco and bg&e are under heavy scrutiny. there will be a series of hearings on how the utility companies handled the widespread outages. meetings are scheduled for september in baltimore. for more information, you can go to wbaltv.com. officials in harford county are investigating in late afternoon crash where a person was seriously injured. fire and rescue crews said several vehicles were involved and several people had to be

flown to shock trauma. more than 70 people without a home around 7:30 a.m. on friday at the lake with apartments in burton bill. the fire was so intense and fast-moving that more than 100 firefighters had to be called to the scene. eight people were rescued from the thefts -- from the flames. >> drafting a brand new social media policy in response to what the department useviewed as inappropriate tweets from some union members. >> some firefighters are upset about the recent contract and the fact that the chief and the command staff got raises and they let off steam on social media. the baltimore sun first reported that the chief is looking into a social media policy. kevin cartwright issued a statement that says and part of

first, let's take a look outside. >> some of us saw rain this morning and some of us did not. it is an indicator of what is to come. i don't mean whether or whether or not you should go someplace or what. but it is whether that is on the way. it is an indicator of heat and humidity. a warfront is coming up from the south and generating some shower activity. most of it has been north of the city. there is three hours worth of radar showing up in this little loop we're showing you. most of it is in carroll county and baltimore county and down to the district of columbia what was in the district is now in howard county and moving toward the city. maybe a thunderstorm this afternoon. i will have details on the weekend forecast in just a moment.
